Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe’s Natural Resources Department is hosting several Engineered Log Jam tours and planting events:
LEKT’s Natural Resources Department will be hosting an LEKT community Engineered log jam tour/planting event on Wednesday, November 6th from 10 AM- 2PM at the newly constructed Ranney Reach engineered log jams. These engineered log jams were constructed in order to improve salmon habitat and floodplain function. Clallam Conservation District is partnering with LEKT to host the following two volunteer events:
1) Engineered log jam tour/planting event on October 25th from 10 AM- 2PM at the new Ranney Reach log jams
2) A planting event on Saturday October 26th from 9:30am-11:30am OR 12:30pm-2:30pm at former Lake Aldwell in order to boost conifer presence for optimal salmon habitat and ecosystem function.
