Joseph A. Turrey, Councilman is serving his second term as a Tribal Council Members. He has also served the Tribe as a Tribal Police Officer for approximately 12 years. He has also worked for the Lower Elwha Fish Hatchery.
What Joe loves about serving on Tribal Council is that he is “making a future for all of our young people,” he states. Turrey enjoys staying involved with the Tribe in the different aspects, because he enjoys seeing the Tribe advance.
Turrey has not only received education at the following schools, but he is also a Tribal Veteran. He has attended: Lincoln Elementary school, Stevens Junior High, Port Angeles Senior High, Peninsula Junior College, the Washington State Police Academy, as well as many other military and police schools
One of the most exciting things that happened in Turrey’s life was his induction to the Army. He was able to travel around the world and learn about many cultures. He also learned to speak a few other languages, and made a lot of good friends.
